Location: Mahagastotte Valley
Elevation: 1820 Metres
Built in: 1976

Our Nuwara Eliya Tea Garden produces a tea, which is light and bright with a mellow flavour, branded as “Inverness”. The tea is grown at an elevation of 2,400 metres above mean sea level within the Mahagastotte Valley

The name Inverness is inherited from the original planters who would have found these hills reminiscent of their beloved homeland in the Scottish Highlands. Nuwara Eliya Tea Garden is the only tea garden planted totally by the indigenous people of Ceylon after the colonial era. You can term it as “history repeating itself”. The architecture amidst the windswept hills and the cool mountain breeze invokes nostalgia of a bygone period of typical English grandeur.

Tea and Health

The latest research has shown that drinking your favourite cup of Ceylon tea can help maintain your health and well-being. The antioxidants, hydrating properties, caffeine and fluoride found in tea mean that you can always feel good about reaching for the teapot.

Tea Garden

Our very own tea gardens are nestled in the hills of Ceylon, within the Mahagastotte, Fordyce and Kelani Valleys in Ceylon. Each of these valleys has unique characteristics, being situated in three distinct agro-climatic regions. Within these valleys lie six of our choicest tea gardens, each steeped in a long heritage of producing Ceylon's finest teas.
